We've added the Sarah as a new model to the International, "Glamour, Beauty & the Nude" workshop.

While this workshop is practically filled, we're adding a new model for every two additional attendees that sign up--the model photographer ratio is no less than one model per two photographers for this 4-solid days of shooting in the exotic location of Cozumel. We'll be staying at the luxurious El Presidente Resort Hotel, the top hotel in al of Cozumel. This is one workshop were you may bring a guest/spouse to utilize your room while you're out shooting away.

We have featured guest photographer, Andy Pearlman and we'll all be using Dyna-Lite location lighting and California Sunbounce reflectors, so just bring your camera and film or digital film. Each attendee recieves educational discounts from Dyna-Light, Larson, California Sunbounce and promotional offers/products from HoodmanUSA, Unique Photo, WarmCards.com, GTI Light Technologies and more.

Photographers will be able to purchase the brand new equipment "used" during this shoot for reduced prices, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Come explore the possibilities, see the link for more details, email me if you have any questions--it's almost here and it's a go, we've "made" the class as expected and are tickled pink. The workshop will be featured in an upcoming issue from one of the top photo magazines too--so you'll be able to say you were a part of it next spring when the article appears.

Any attendee for Cozumel is allowed FREE antendance once to any future, nationwide weekend workshop, once paid for the Cozumel workshop. See the link for more details, thanks, rg sends!

(First Model is Sarah who will be in Cozumel, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Dallas workshops)

I am considering coming to Cozumel, if I can get the time off and if slots are still open by the time I find out. I am curious how many shots a restrained photographer would get during each day of shooting. I have been considering buying one of the stand alone hard drive units that does not need a computer to copy from a CF card, I believe they can only operate for two hours on batteries. What I dont know is how long it would take one of these drives to copy a one gig card. A 1 gig card only gives me 80 shots shooting in Raw. I'm under the impression you will be on location at sun up and sun down, will there be time in between to charge batteries?

Ken,

Hi. Thanks for your reply. On photos in any given day, I'm sure you'll shoot more than 80, but to really answer that, I'd have to know your shooting skills and how you work. The models will be one per two photographers at minimum, this also allows folks to assist each other, assisting is important too, but we'll be shooting like you said, primarily from sun-up to sun-down.

As far as electricity goes, barring any late hurricanes, the island is all 110V. I'll have a EZ DigiMagic CD burner with me, but you can only fit so much on a CD, and I highly recommend you make multiple CD's to ensure there are no glitches or bring a laptop to verify the results. I should have my laptop with me too. I'll have batteries too. Our island sponsor has an invertor in his vehicle that I used last time to charge our Dyna-Lite battery packs, which we'll have about ten with us there.

Right now, based on my last trip there in July, we have three days where electricty on location should not be a problem, believe it or not, even at the location where the caves are--the same place the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders shot their 2002 calendar. There is one day, when we go by boat, that there is no electricity there, but we'll have battery power. I'm not sure how far the boat would be from the invertor to make a run back, but I'm sure there will be at least one run back for something. Worse case on that one day, I'll have my battery powered CD-burner. It runs off AA batteries, invertors, it's own 12V car adapter and 110v.

I think you'll find out that with such a small/medium group of photographers we'll have ease to helping everyone out, one way or the other. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Talk soon, thanks, rg

Just a note. I was on Amazon tonight and noticed they were selling the Hitachi 4 gig Microdrive which is a CF Type II card for any of the digital cameras that use CF types 1 or 2 (it also comes with an adapter for plugging in directly intoyour laptop PCMIA slot). They had it for $219 and there is a $50 mail in rebate offer. Such a card gives me about 400-500 RAW images with my Canon 20D which is probably not unreasonable for a days shoot. I've been to 3 or 4 of Rolando's workshops and I seem to end up shooting 200-300 shots per day. I always take a laptop, but I have also used the little battery operated hard drives with a CF slot (about $199 for a 20 gig model) and I usually got 4 to 6 hours on one. It takes about 20 minutes to download a 1 gig card to the drive.
Hope this information is of some help.

Cheers,
rfs

Thanks for the info it helps alot. I only just made the switch to digital so I am having to buy all the tools that are needed as support equipment, including Photoshop. It would be nice to have an unlimited budget but since no one does it helps to be able to make informed decisions and buy the right equipment the first time. Your reply definitely points me in the right direction. I haven't done any glamour photograpy for about 10 years and when I did it was people I knew for private portfolios, ie no model releases. I hoping I will be able to swing this trip and come home with images to post, then all I will have to do is figure out how to post. Lastly, I checked your portfolio and really like some of your images. I've been a pilot for over 20 years but have yet to see pretty naked ladies floating in the clouds, maybe I should spend more time looking out the window.
