I am being asked with many that feel intimidated to attend. Folks, the whole reason to attend is the very same reason you are afraid to attend. I know the events are not for everyone but getting this message across has always been a struggle in reasoning with why someone should attend a workshop put on by us, Rolando or Photo 101 or any other workshop dedicated to the education of photography first.

The events are not who is better or needing to be better just to attend. It's about gaining information by taking YOUR step up to the next rung on the ladder so you feel more confident about your photography as an individual as your dieing to get to the next level. So workhops and events are for you in this competive market or to reduce your learning curve to satisfy your hobby and love for photograpy. If you end up taking a couple more steps, then that's our goal and every other true workshop coordinator that puts the value on education first. It's a testament in realizing that some of our mentors at events were past registered photographers and those even now are helping me improve as well as mentors that have been my friends over the years. With that said, this year's LVSS III mentors WILL be there to help with your questions and assist you if you want it or you can just come for fun and shoot your little heart out for 3 to 4 days.

Mentors to LVSS

My first time ever attending "serious" workshop was with Supershoots. It was back at San Diego Smackdown. Yes I was a bit intimidated at first when I saw the models line up and mentors/instructors attending. Will they looking at me when I photographs the models, will they looking to me when I'm posing the models etc. Guess what folks.. none of that nature happen. It was all about fun.

Mentors/instructors never standing on your way when you shooting and yet they are all there when we need some input, idea or suggestion. The fact that the ratio of 2:1 they used helps a lot more. When shooting, this group of 2 photogs and 1 model are on different location. So we never bumped to the other group or even afraid that the rest of worskhop attendes will "look" at you when you shooting your model. Well.. you know how it is.. sometimes you feel a little akward when you posing a model while people behind looking at you and you're afraid that your posing is ugly.

JT and the rest of the team never jump in and stop you from taking picture. Unless if they see something that need to be corrected immediately. For ex. shadows on model’s face etc. Never mentioned anything about what kind of lens being used, what f-stop or how you posing your model. You are in total control of your shooting.

As a matter of fact, I didn’t recall feeling attending photo workshop during Smackdown. To me it was more like you on your own photo shoot with your partner (photographer assigned with you) and a model. Both when you shoot inside (studio) and on location.

Anyways guys.. I’m totally not a spoke person for Supershoots nor get paid to write this post. This is just my “true story and I’m hoping my experience will give better perspective to whoever still has doubt or feel intimidated attending ANY workshop whether GarageGlamour, Photo101 or Supershoots.

All I’m saying is I’ve been there and it’s a whole different experience. Well.. I tell you what.. go sign up and meet me personally and let’s talk. See you in Vegas folks..!
