Hi everyone! Welcome to our TubeIt Forum! Here you can post your videos, but please obey some of the rules.

1. You can post any video from any source that allows it, such as Myspace, Google, YouTube, etc., but you must indicate in your post title the relativeness of the video to photography, modeling or if it's a funny or just "other" category video.

The method to do this is Title then next to it put a (P) if photo related, (M) if model related, (F) if a funny video, (O) for other.

3. To post a video you can find the BB code and examples here, http://www.glamour1.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode
In a nutshell,

Google Video is [google] value[/google]

Metacalf Video is [metacafe] value[/metacafe]

Myspace Video is [myspacevid] value[/myspacevid]

YouTube Video is [youtube]value[/youtube]

For other video types you have two choices:

Video without a play button: [video]value[/video]

Video with a play button: [video2]value[/video2]

To find the "Value" to insert, for every BB code except [video] and [video2], you can get the value by clicking on the page where your video that you found is, and get the last part of it. As an example, here's a YouTube video URL, [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FDAi4jmV6Q[/url] looking at this URL in your address bar, the value would be 6FDAi4jmV6Q and since it's a video on YouTube's website, the code to display this here on the forum would simply be , [yt]6FDAi4jmV6Q[/yt] that's it!

[b][i]Becareful not to leave a space after [yt] when inserting the YouTube URl, it tends to this, no spaces please.[/i][/b]
4. No spam videos or blatant commercial type videos allowed.

5. Obviously no porn or videos that involve nudity will be allowed in here. Note: Restricted videos from YouTube will not play here as they require optional authorization at the YouTube site.

Example YouTube video post from this YouTube URL, http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=Sz6XjXu-oT8 would be:

Post Title-- Kodak - Winds of Change (P)

Thread contents--

Kodak - Winds of Change. Please give it a few seconds to load--be patient, then click the play button! Click outside the playbutton only if you want to go to the actual source page, otherwise to stay on this forum/site, you must click the play button only. You can however click the pause/stop buttons too. Cool Vid! Thanks, rg sends!

[youtube]Sz6XjXu-oT8[/youtube]

(Please give it a few seconds to load--be patient, then click the play button!)

Thanks everyone, let's make this fun, and enjoy, rg sends!

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't this what MySpace was created for?

For me personally, it does nothing but add to the noise portion of G1's otherwise good signal to noise ratio.

YMMV.

Nope, Myspace is a "social networking" site, it was not created to share videos, in fact Myspace is a place like anywhere else on the net were you can post videos.

Today broadband is in, part of that in is being able to be multimedia, not just one medium. While you can go all day long to Google or YouTube video, you also have millions of videos to search from, the idea here was to narrow it down by bringing the ones that are not only pertinent to models and photographers, but the one's that are more video than clutter, or noise as you say.

Our goal isn't to put one million videos here, but to save you time from searching through a million. It's also another added resource to the site, you'd be suprised how many people don't have myspace accounts or for that matter go to YouTube or Google vids. I hope that helps, and besides, the clicking of links is voluntary, wishing you the best, rg sends!

Is there any way for me to omit the TubeIt forum posts from showing up in the "New Posts" list?

As an example there are 53 new posts since my last visit. Of those there are at least 25 posts to the TubeIt forum. Although you (Rolando) consider these of interest to the general population here, I find them getting in the way of the excellent contributions from the regular members.

If there isn't a way to remove them from the list, can I just 'ignore' this section some way?

Thanks for your help in making G1 a great resource for photographers.

Scott,

The short answer is no. The long answer, we are "building" that section and it will taper off and you will not see as many in the "new post" area. If you look to the right of the "New Posts" area you will see what category a post was made under, like TubeIt. If you are not interested in that section, just ignor it.

Not trying to be rude here, but so far it's been a big hit and there is in fact some valuable information, such as photo, modeling and make-up tips. Sure, we have some funny stuff posted, but even photographers need to take a breather and laugh every now and then, besides, laughter is one of the most healthiest things for the human body.

I, as well as many so far, consider this section a valuable area where the sifting through the video houses has been done for them already, that alone is very time saving.

Wishing you the best, and all I ask is for some patience and give it a try, video won't hurt you and it inspires many. Thanks, rg sends!

I'm not asking for you to remove it, I just wondered if there was a convenient way for me to ignore it. You also need to consider that some places frown on videos while your supposed to be 'working'

I hope it's a plus for you, although at the moment, there seems to be just one person posting. Just kidding. Best of luck with it.

Hey there Rolando,

Are the videos considered "attachments"?

If so I am not allowed to post "attachments"

If not then I can not figure out how to post the videos I did try the: [youtube]value[youtube]

and get noting but a blank space on the screen where a video should be.

Any help?

Thanks

Use YouTube Video is [yt]value[/yt] not [youtube] there is no uploading of attachments, basically the value is the link and we've programmed BB code to parse it appropriately. Thanks, rg.
