Rolling Muslin

I’ve been trying to find an efficient and effective way to store and use my many muslin backdrops. I have seen the rail systems and I don’t feel like that is the best option for my studio. I have recently tried making a “rolling” contraption to roll the muslin like a shade. The huge problem I am having is that once the muslin starts rolling up if the left and right edges of the muslin are not tensioned, the muslin starts rolling inward from the sides creating a huge bulge in the middle.

Many of the roller kits I have seen on the market say they are good for rolling muslins and seamless paper. How do these kits solve the problem?

I dont roll my muslins..I just stuff them in a sack..rollers are more of a canvas thing...from what i have seen at the local photo studios where i am...

The one thought that comes to mind is fixing a wooden dowl or a 1x1 inch board to the end to hold it and weight it....?!?
