I’m shooting a D100 in raw and batch processing with Nikon Capture 3. I shoot and convert in Adobe 1998 color profile and process the files to TIFF. My question is, do I covert the files to TIFF RGB 8 bit or 16 bit or TIFF CYMK 16 bit and why? I can PS from there… Twenty years of large format film work forces me to strive towards perfection and I'm you know confused.

16 bit will allow a more dynamic range for working with the image. RGB has a wider color gamut than CYMK. Generally CYMK color space, although not always, is used for printing. For most applications of the final image the file will be sampled back down to 8 bit for output.

I would start out in RGB 16 bit.
