Yes.... it is a better printer in many respects. Most professionals remark the images are noticably superior in gammut, metamerism, and to a lesser extent resolution. Ink stability with the UltraChrome inks is vastly improved.

And of course, in B&W printing it blows everything else away. I have heard experienced photographers compare the 2200 prints on Red River papers as indistinguishable from wet processed prints to the naked eye.

If you want the upmost quality, the Colorbyte ImagePrint RIP for the Epson 2200 blows away the native Epson driver. At the Seybold conference there was a consensus among well regarded experts that the ImagePrint gets the most quality out of the new Epson 2200/7600/9600 printers

The Colorbyte RIP cost approx 70% ,$495, of the price of the entire 2200 printer.

No demo software or trial version. For a limited time they offered a trial version as soon as I applied and called Tampa I was told they didn't receive my request it was no longer available.

Image Print for 7600 is $1495 and $2495 for the 9600.

It would have to do some incredible magic to make it worth that to me.

Would like to hear from actual users of the RIP what they think.
