The third edition of Light: Science and Magic is listed on Amazon with a March 1st release date. It's probably worth waiting for since the second edition is now ten years old.

I'm sure you're right, but honestly, how much of what's in there could possibly change? Most of the book is a physics lesson.

Rolando,
The link that you had in your post is for the hensel pro series not the hensel Pro Plus with the radio triggers and adjustments. the plus series is a little more. Thanks for the information though.

This kit does not appear to be listed at Samys. Other sites have the kit listed, but are currently "out of stock"

This thread is timely for me since I am also considering the purchasing of strobes. This kit looks like a really nice deal considering what you can get for $2350, which might explain why it is out of stock.

Peace,

James

I am really happy with my Hensel Pro Plus lights, I bought a two light kit and just added a third. I use them only indoors, but I'd like to get a Porty kit later down the road for some outdoor looks.

I've recently had poor customer service with B&H , so my next order will be through Samy's.

I have the 2 light Integra Pro Kit and just purchased the new Premium Porty Plus, Ring Flash & Sun Haze RF90, among other things. I am extremely happy with all the Hensel equipment.

jsolis- Message me if you would like the name & number of someone who is able to find you the package you are looking for.

It seems that when I shoot with my studio strobes that I am always at f11 or higher. Is there ever a problem with the hensel lights that you have too much light. Is 500 watt/seconds too much? or is this just not a factor because you can turn them down?

My strobes are new and I admit I don't know enough to get them to perform at their best.

Also can you purchase battery packs for the pro plus so they are portable?

My recollection is that the Hensel Pro Plus has a 5 stop range. So a 500 WS head could probably go as low as 30 ws of power. Or you could turn it off to go to 0 power.
Cheers,
rfs

The Integra Pro plus monolights have a 6 stop range, so they will step down to 17 w/s. That should give you plenty of flexibility to set just about whatever f-stop you want.

The Hensel monolights, like most monolights, are AC-only. If you want to run them off of a battery, you could purchase something like a 1500 W pure sine wave inverter and connect it to a car battery. Or you could take a look at the Dynalite XP1100 power inverter that I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread. It will power up to 1000 w/s of strobes for ~200 full power flashes, so you could run (2) 500 w/s monolights off of it.
