5d owners...

my new 5d viewfinder seems to be be collecting dust in the viewfinder faster than I can clean it (not literally of course). I know there's folks on the net having this issue, but I'm wondering how widespread it is or if I'm one of the unlucky ones.

I believe they all have it in some sort or form.
I'm not so worried about it, it doesn't show up on the shots, but I would love to have the abbilitly to clean it anyway

My understanding is that you just take the prism off and can blow it out a bit. I've got a few spots in my four month old 5D but as you said, doesn't show up in the shots and isn't annoying enough to do anything about it.

I think you can also take it to a service center if it really annoys you.

you can clean it, but if you can keep your lens changing down to a minimum, that might help. I don't set my camera or lens down where dust can settle in them, ie not laying the camera on its back while the lens is off. BTW, the D in 5D stands for dust.
