I recently paid about $1200.00 to build a new site www.theintimatelook.com and revamp my old site www.bobbygphoto.com

I want to keep my bgphoto site G rated so that ANYONE can go to the site and not be offended. The Intimate Look site is for my glamour and nude work. Having said that, the web designer I chose (I found him on GG but will keep him anonymous because pissing, moaning and bitching will only make me look like a fool) has taken forever and a day to complete the site and NOW has vanished.

The sites are basically complete...I just need a simple toolbar revision on one site. My biggest concern is, I now have 2 sites...both built with Dreamweaver and incorporated with Gallery. My problem is, part of what I paid for was to give me a tutorial on how to upload and delete photos from the site without crashing them. I guess my frustration aimed at the designer made him simply refuse to answer any correspondance, so I never received the tutorial.

So if any of you designers out there are familiar with Gallery and Dreamweaver, I need a tutorial. Is this something that can be explained via phone, or will I need to have someone in person walk me through the process?? Any help or tips would be appreciated. I know time is valuable so let me know if a cost is involved.

Signed,

Dude with 2 websites and no clue how to operate

I assume you have already paid the person you hired. If not, you should eventually be able to get him to help you out.
But there are so many ways that sites can be done when you start combining Dreamweaver and Gallery, that it would be difficult to say what advice to give you or how to help without having access to the sites directly (via FTP), to see how it is constructed.
It looks like what he has done is set up gallery as the way to enter the photos into the system, and then he has hard coded in dreamweaver the links to the thumbnails and larger versions of the zoomed photo. This works quite well and the Intimate site looks quite nice. But it may make it difficult to maintain.
Also, on another note, neither of the sites is very search engine friendly, so if you wanted to get good SEO, a lot of work still needs to be done.
Cheers,
rfs

First of all do you have a copy of Dream weaver on your computer ? And second do you have the password to log on to your server ? With that you should be able to do everything you want. It looks like a normal directory string from what I can see.

Since Gallery is supposedly providing the structure for the photos and thumbnails and managing those, he will also need an ftp program in all likelihood to find where it puts new photos that are uploaded and their thumbnails so he can then modify the pages with Dreamweaver when he adds new photos. The FTP part can perhaps be done through Dreamweaver, depending on what version he has.

Also, considering Dreamweaver's learning curve, he may have some problems.

Cheers,
rfs

Dreamweave MX 2004 does have built in FTP. I don't know about earlier versions though. And, of course, DW MX 2004 is now one release old.
