I just picked up two 2gig memory cards for my 20D. I also bought a USB2 card reader. I figured I would need the extra speed with usb2. But I can't get it to work. Windows xp says it is working right. What could be wrong ?

What do you mean by it's not working? Can you see the drive mounted in "My Computer"? You might also want to right click on "My Computer" and select Manage. From there you need to open the storage manager and mount the drive manually.

What model reader did you buy?

The reader blinks on and then off in the " my computer " you can see it fine but as soon as you put a memory card in it the icon for it go's away. I am going to try it on another computer and see what happens. My other reader works great but it is to slow for a 2 gig card. It would take about 37 mins..

I use a simple usb Dazzle compactflash reader. Very simple, durable and fast. Got it for about 20 bucks more than a year ago and it offloads my 1 gig cards in about 4 minutes.
Sorry I can’t help with your problem… 37 min, ouch.

Is you USB port really 2.0. I had the same problem. I installed new USB 2.0 ports and was off and running. The 1.0 will see the reader, but it won't support transfer...it's sneaky that way. One way to test it is get take another USB 2.0 device (like a cheap thumb drive) and if if that works.

Best of luck.

The reader must be bad because I put it on a new dell and the same thing happened.
