I was reading a post on here not long ago. Somebody mentioned a set of key strokes that would bring up 2 copies of the same image. You could zoom in on one image and work very closely on it, while the other window remained full view and as you made your changes you could see the effect on both copies. I tried it and liked it, but now I can't remember the key strokes or menu choice to do it.

Anybody know what I am talking about???

I believe what you want is on the Window menu.

Window, Arrange, "New Window for..."

I don't know the keystroke.

That's it.

You open the image, and then go to the Window Menu and open a new document window. You can zoom in on the one, but whatever you do to the zoom in likewise shows on the full view.

I tried it a couple of times (and then forgot how to do it) but found it can come in handy under a variety of circumstances.

When you are working around the eyes, etc, it helps to have the zoom view for precise work and the overall view to make sure your aren't overdoing it, etc.

Thanks.

I think you are talking about using the navigator.

go to WINDOW/Navigator in Photoshop

I use it on a dual monitor setup and it rocks having the file you are working showing the whole image while working on just the eyes or lips etc....

hope this helps.

I'm using CS2 and the short cut keystroke for Window > Arrange > New Window is not set by default.

Customize Keyboard Shortcuts in Photoshop CS
