I've been shooting with a sony cybershot DSC S85 for some time now, and now i want to move up. I got 1200-2000$ in the kitty to play with. Suggestions? Preferably something that has some type of wireless features that i can shoot and have it transferred to my laptop as i'm shooting. Thanks in advance guys !!

you have several options. Nikon D70 Kit, Canon (I think there are a few in that price range), and a variety of used equipment. The Nikon and Canon cameras support transferring the images via either firewire or USB (depends on the camera) but in many cases you will need to purchase the software that allows it. When you move up to wireless transfer you get into a whole different class of camera and the cost is typically a lot more. You can look at here to read some reviews on the different choices in cameras.

Good luck!

Keep in mind that wireless transfer can be slow. You'll pay quite a bit more for the camera and tools needed, and then you wait quite a bit longer for the photo to get to the computer. That means the speed that you use for shooting will be reduced. How do you envision using a wireless transfer system, by the way?

Cheers,
rfs

The Nikon D70 is a good choice, we use them quite a bit...for wireless transfer you need to purchase Nikon Capture 4 to make it work with the D70, but it DOES work with it...just an FYI...

If you decide to go with the Canon line, there's a sale going on the Canon 20D:

Canon EOS 20D Digital SLR (no lens) $1124
