I get so tired of this ongoing ego argument that seems to persist on what seems like half the threads that get posted. The first response to someone with a problem is "Oh, you should get a MAC".

Often times this is stated with all seriousness and with no smiley face to lighten what, in my opinion, is a slap in the face. Most of us are quite happy with the computer's we have. Most of us get excellent results from our computer's. Why can't we just leave it at that?

When someone has a problem, they don't really want to hear "get a MAC". Instead they'd like to hear a possible solution to their immediate problem.

I know that many posters say the phrase as an element of humour, but eventually the constant repetition of the same old line gets really dreary.

So the only solution I can see to this whole problem is to get a TRS80 Model 1 . Then you will have none of the problems that anyone has had here with their Computers. I have one for sale, if anyone wants it.

Cheers,
rfs

What about an ED-209? Or maybe a T1000?

Oh sorry, I thought we were talking about robots...

I really miss mine. Got me through college. Wrote many a paper with it. Although I had to line up each and every page because for some reason I could never get the Tandy and the printer on the same wavelength

Heck, my Tandy did not even except games that were popular during that time (circa 1992). All I had was prowrite and Dbase on the machine.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane...

Oh well, enough of that. Back to photography...

of hasseling with PC's my boss finally went out and bought a Mac. When I started with him I had to take my own Mac since I knew so little about the Windoze world. I think he got mad since I rarely had problems and anydown time was usually fixed by a simple reboot. I've had more problems with PS corrupting it's pref's than anything else. With the advent of OS 10 I've had even less problems. I still don't know anything about Windows and have never felt the need to downgrade. (heh heh)

I miss mine also. I actually wrote a program for it that sold over 200,000 copies so I was sad to see the computer retired as you might imagine.
For text editing I used NewScript and an Epson MX80 printer. Worked great!

Well there were a few better games than Pong on the TRS80. I used to enjoy the Scott Adams text Adventures.

Wow, were you in the DFW area during the early 90's? If so I wish I would have known you, you could have helped me with my Tandy while I was in college at UNT.

Could have saved many a swear word coming from my mouth when I got angry with the machine

The interesting thing I've noted is that in the last 25 years I have been in literally hundreds of very large business's scattered over the world. The only time I've ever seen a Mac in use in a business as been in an Art department. In every other case it was Window's based systems. In the early days I saw CPM, Unix, and IBM OS's but more and more those disappeared till it was only Windows and, as I mentioned, a Mac now and then in an Art department. And in the last 5 years I've seen another odd phenomenon, and that is that most of the computers I'm seeing are not only Windows OS, but they come from Dell.
