OK ya'll. I've read in a few posts about adjusting the "white balance". I see there are a couple of articles as well so I'm going to be doing some reading. Haven't progressed to this point yet, still trying to understand exposure with different lighting. How does white balance come into play here? I'm sure it deserves more attention than what I've given to it so far. Andy M mentioned that he turned the white balance to a "cloudy day". I have the Canon 20d (and unfortunately I don't have it at my office today). Is that a number or an automatic setting? Sorry for the stupidity... Any help would be appreciated.

Jim.... call me at 816-721-3009. It would be much easier to explain over the phone.

Hey Marc... Thanks again for the info... I found a couple of good articles in the archives and your explanation of the purpose of the White Balance selection was perfect. Thanks again...

Before about two hours ago, I wasn't even sure what a grey card was

Guess I'm showing my skill level here eh? Thanks for the info and advice.

Everybody's gotta start somewhere. Now this shot was done at 2800K. Your assignment: find out how to shoot at that WB setting.

Sounds like an educational project

I'll take ya up on it...

Here's what Rolando said in one his tips about that WB, well roughly anyways...

"Incandescent mode is closer to tungsten, which is red/yellow or warm light, around the 3,000 to 3500K range, thus the camera will add blues, green, or a mix of the two known as cyan to take out the warmth. A cool trick is to shoot photos at dawn outdoors in this mode to create the “Hollywood blue-night, light look."

So I guess I'll start here and see what the camera does After all, my camera has more talent than me

Thanks again Mike...

You could really one up me and shoot it. Your wife would make a great subject.

Hey you kids are in Wyoming why do you look so 'beachy'? Glad you linked with Marc, he's an expert. I set my WB in my studio at Flash (5600) because that is what I have come to like. Outside I set it to Shade -1 because it works most often for me. However, when I open in PS if I don't like what I see I can adjust WB because I always shoot everything in RAW.
