The colors in this one look great on my computer when I open the image that is stored on my computer. I can open it in either PS or window explorer and the colors are good but the colors on the uploaded image are entirely different. I started with raw adobe 1998 color space and 16 bit 240 dpi. To convert it for the web I first changed the image to 72 dpi, then sized to 550 on the long size and next used save for web and tweaked the quality slider until the image size was just below 150 kb. Am I missing any steps?

Try converting to the sRGB colorspace before posting if you're not already doing so.

The second picture looks much better than the first, looks like it worked. Glad I could help.

When emailing a jpg is converting to sRGB also a necessary step?
What does anyone think of the colors now, are they still off?

I understand that for images destined for the web, it's best to convert to sRGB.
Q: In PS, do you have to do this manually or is the conversion done automatically by "Save For Web"? My intuition tells me it should be automatic, but I could be wrong.

Thanks
I agree. It's still not as vibrant as looking at a full resolution tiff, but much much better.

How do I convert all my images to sRGB colorspace from Adobe RGB colorspace?
Is sRGB best for pictures destined for the web?
