A cable question actually.

I am currently using the supplied USB interface cable (IFC-400PCU I think) along with a USB extension/repeater cable when tethering my 10D & 20D cameras. Is there a better cable I should be using, maybe a single cable for this purpose?

thanks in advance

I always believe that it's more appropriate to use one cable rather than two. And they don't cost a whole lot -- so buy the longest that's appropriate for the use. I think there's a length limit on teathering.

Look in your manual for the maximum length cable you can use. But a repeater is perfectly acceptable to use. The repeater will increase the signal strength and voltages to give you the extra distance.
