The second one looks like it composited in post process or shot with one of them, there fancy background systems. Is that the case?

These were both shot in natural outdoor settings. No photoshop tricks to get these looks. Used an off camera flash mounted to a tripod and had a 2 stop neutral density filter on the lens so that I could shoot in daylight with the flash.
