Went back to the basics, a girl, a camera, & a flash.... Seems to be missing something to me.

Lucky man...to have a model at home. ;-)

I think IMHO that the photo composition is great. The second photo could be more to the right than just in the center. The other thing that is distracting for me is how bright the background in relation to the shaded area.

Keep posting.

I like them both, but I think that in the 2nd one it would look better if she was turned around and maybe a tighter crop, with her head more in the upper left. Just my opinion.

I agree with the background being too bright, the position of the building along with the time of day made it a bit odd to shoot in.

I also agree with the position of being centered, but there just seems to be something else wrong with them, I just can't put my finger on it.

Lucky man, My wife poses for me ever so rarely, and I'm always thrilled.
(and challenged to do better than EVER because the photo now have to pass HER review)

My opinion:
Your angle is too low, her eyes are beautiful but I have to search for them.
Rule of thirds is probably the best thing you can do after the fact.

The background is too bright but more importantly its in focus. (BIG aperature is my friend)

Great job!! great model!! (tell her I said so, please)
keep posting.

This is Red, not my wife.

without repeating what everyone else said, the thing that I keep looking at is the positioning of her legs in the first photo. It looks almost uncomfortable. Your wife is an absolutely beautiful lady. Would love to see some head shots of her or at least her wearing some colors that compliment her skin tone and eyes. She seems to be blending into the BG too much instead of standing out of it like she should. She is too pretty to blend in. Keep up the good work!

Here's a couple more, I love shooting her because she always poses herself.

couple of suggestions:

1. shut OFF the flash.
2. meter the light without the flash, and use a very wide f/stop, like 2.8.
3. move her body off center.

see what happens.
