Image 2 if the crop were changed would be a really good shot in my opinion. If you crop it just above the elbow it looks great. With the current crop you need more space above her head and frankly I think there is no value in anything below her right elbow in this shot.

#1 I am not sure what would make it better but I am sure that it doesnt work for me in its current form.

Thanks. Just to add there was no artificial DOF - shot at f1.8 with 85mm on my 1D MII.
