I was looking through all my old, old Playboy magazines and decided to try to duplicate that beautiful golden backlit style of lighting. Luckily, a model had booked a shoot with me last week and mentioned that she always wanted to see how she might have looked in Playboy (she's now 33 and thinkls she's too old for Playboy).

Question to all you old Playboy readers (readers?) ... did I capture they style?

Dude,

I think you nailed it. And no, I don't think she looks too old. Kathy Shower was something like 35 when she became a Playmate, so there is a precedent.

Okay, now you have to tell us all how you lit it.

Excellent job, BTW.

Thanks for the compliment. Kathy Showers ... now THAT'S a name I haven't though about in a zillion years. She was a real hottie. I probably still have that issue under my mattress.

Okay, now you have to tell us all how you lit it.
First, start with a gorgeous model. Add an excellent MUA to give the model "That 80's look." I used Briana (www.facesbybriana.com) ... then light appropriately.

Here's another using the following setup
Nikon D100 - 70-200mm f2.8 VR --- image shot at 160mm @ ff3.5
2 Alien Bee 400s in 36x48 softbox - in front of model camera right and left
2 Norman 400ws hairlights with Bastard Amber gels - behind model and above

I think with proper encouragement, I could get her to let me submit her to Playboy. But I need some information from you Playboy readers --- Does Playboy ever feature women over 30? Are there any Playboy special editions for model that are over 30 or models that have larger than a double D-cup?

Thanks,

Hey Marty!

I mentioned Kathy Shower, and I have seen several models in their thirties. There was a special edition of women of different ages, including one that was 65!

Talk to Rolando about the process, he and I have talked about it a bit at a workshop. (I did'nt have a model, but instructive nonetheless)

Where Playboy is concerned, I think it is less about age and more about appearance.
