I had the opportunity to shoot my first figure studies (or artistic nudes) this past weekend. First, I have to say that it was much more difficult than I expected. I learned what many of you already know well, which is that clothing does a nice job of hiding both flaws and unwanted folds in an otherwise perfect epidermis. Seeing shape only, instead of worrying about color, clothing, hair, etc. seems like it would simplify things...but this was a whole new challenge. Don't get me wrong, it was a challenge I enjoyed; but it was clearly work.
I know that the skin tones in these two images don't match...but I made no attempt to match them. The tones are simply a result of me screwing with the levels differently in each image.
I post these here because I want honest feedback, so lemme have it.
I don't like the purple fingernail in #2, but haven't yet figured out how to change it effectively.
