Please Critique.

Well, I don't have another shoot planned for a couple of weeks. Thanks to all the great suggestions I received from my last post. I have acquired some new equipment that will enable me to make better use of my strobes. I am really looking forward to trying some new lighting techniques!

In the mean time I have converted this image from my last set with Christine to Monochrome and used the grey source channel and constant slides. I really like this image and would like to hear from all who care to critique. On one of my monitors, it looks too hot on the right shoulder and face. On another "better" monitor it looks a little softer. Also, would a reflector have helped fill the left side of her face and front of her neck? Have at it!

Yeah, it would have, but shadows aren't necessarily bad when photographing a woman that you want to make look good:



On both of my monitors her right shoulder and parts of her face are blown out, just like on your first monitor. Maybe a little bit of burning in would add a bit of detail to those areas.

Nice image though I would have had her hold her head a little bit more upright, and bring the chin around towards her shoulder a bit more. That might help reduce that crease that runs along the junction of her neck and her back, and might encourage her to not hike up her shoulder so much.

It is a bit brighter on the shoulder than the face, not the result you want. You can make a change in ps. As long as you are adding equipment, you might want to add a gobo. This would be used to feather light off an area like this. You will like the result.

Thanks for the reply and advise! I will look into the gobo light. As far as lighting goes, I think my next shoot is going to be a whole new learning curve!
