First, I like the idea behind the image. But, if I am to be honest, the image is basically flat from a lighting standpoint, and there isn't really a focal point. My suggestions to improve the shot would be to add some addtional lighting to give the image some depth and to open up the deep shadow under the bring of the cap. Yes, you can still have a shadow, but the eyes don't show at all now. That would be fine if the rest of the face was brighter and some accent lighting were used to create depth.
I have a similar image in idea to yours in my portfolio but unfortunately I don't have it in electronic format right now.
