Another couple of lovely ladies from the Atl Mansion shoot.

Yeah I cut of Wendy's toes and left hand. I have difficulty at times with my glasses and the D200 viewfinder. I probably just need to slow down and maybe work of a monopod/tripod. There were a number of frames where I was conscious of not cutting parts off but my composition changed just enough when pressing the shutter.

Wendy

Kayti

Regards,

John

Nice shots John. Can you tell me how you lit the second one? Thanks.

Lighting for both images was a Hensel monolight in a Chimera strip box, For the 2nd image probably 7 - 8 ft away.

Over-shoot the image and crop down later. That's the best way!

You can't take a bad shot of Kayti, but both photos are terrific.

John,

Just like in the old days of slide film, photo editors want the full-frame. Cropping outside the camera is for square medium format film, 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 not 35mm where the image area is so small. On the image of Wendy, if she'd brought her hand/arm down a bit lower, you could've brought the camera down and captured her full-frame in a full-length shot.

While I know that area of the mansion was tight to shoot in, either change lenses or take a different crop. There are four standard crops, full-length, three-quarter (above the knees), bust-up (above the elbow joint), or head shot. You can do a hybrid of those crops in certain situations, but always keep the rule of cropping--for glamour--above the knee or above the elbow, otherwise you have an amputee.

Either way, thanks again for all your support here and at the workshop. Send me the file of that headshot of Tess, I saw it on her page and it was a bit underexposed, I'll see about tweaking it for you if that's ok. Again, thanks for all your support, we're going to announce two more, one-day workshops for the Atlanta mansion shortly. Sure wish you could make to the "Back to the Ranch" event, great instructors there will help you fine-tune your style, as I like your overall progress in photography. Keep going, you're doing well! Thanks, rg sends!

John,
Despite the cropping errors you've confessed to, I have still enjoyed your photo. I love the pose, the lingerie, and the model. Particularly the pose, I find it very inviting. Very hot!

RG .. Thanks for the comments and advice. Will practice and just make a concerted effort to get those compositional bugs ironed out.

Sweet shot of Kayti at the Piano!!!

Would love to make it "Back to the Ranch", your going to have a wonderful group of instructors and mentors that I really would love to work with and I'm sure could help me take it to the next level. Unfortunately right now it looks like I'll be working with our auditors. Auditors ...vs...Pretty girls and fantastic instructors. You know where I'd rather be!!
