Jessi

Here is Jessi from the Focus workshop in Atlanta last week.

This well illustrates my point that the difference between charm and vulgarity is good humour. I don't mean that the model always has to smile.

Please comment and criticize.

re: Jessi's other end

This shot was an accomplishment for me as it is real glamour. Usually I shoot in directions of portrait and fashion.

What I like about it besides the smile is the heart shape of her butt. The red panties with black trim kind of outline the shape as well.

This was my first shoot with a new canon 5d. I am still getting used to the new look but I think the face area might be just starting to be too sharp.

Re: Jessi's other end

I want to congratulate you on your accomplishment. Nothing better than being proud of yourself and stepping out of your comfort zone.

I would start looking at the lighting in the near future, and remember the word "separation."

See how her black top get's lost in the shadow on the wall? Makes her look wider than she is. The eyes are also dark, almost to the point that all you see are her eye whites.

All of this will come in time, and you're well on your way to at least realizing some of the best ASSets to capture.

Keep it comin!!

Re: Jessi

ditto what dave said. this is a tough pose, right up close to a BG, to properly light without some extra instruments carefully modified. you have a number of elements to be concerned about: face, butt, over-all image, separation from the wall. it's gonna take a few light sources to make it work really well.

Re: Jessi

This was at a workshop but I could and should have put a reflector on the left. It happened kind of fast and there wasn't much time in the set...(pretty girl syndrom).

I guess the other thing would be a spot reflector with grid on her butt and to block it's light from hitting the wall with black tinfoil.

So far this plan is relying on a reflector to put light into her eyes. I expect that pushing away from the wall a bit and adding a hair light might create problems.
