Re: Feel free to critique

Jose,
I would try decreasing the DOF. The background is slightly distracting and the model doesn't "pop" from the background.

Try to avoid things like trees growing out of peoples heads or shoulders...

Re: Feel free to critique

Shooting on the street has got to be one of the worst situations to work with . Mite try a building/ally for background. A fire exscape can be interesting. A shorter depth of field mite help, but the camera was probably at it's limits as it was. I'd say it was F4.5-F5 or so, as it was.

I'll bet there are many photographer's who would argue that with you... It's a bit more challenging than a roll of seamless paper, but it has a lot more potential!

Re: Feel free to critique

We have at least two forums for c & c If more people would use them for that this one would not be a c & c forum.
People post here for diferent reasons and then people feel obligated to impose their own opinions of what it should be reguarless of the posters intention.
If it was commented on because of something glareing technically incorrect, by all means most of us are looking to improve.
Gosh some guy overlooked a small detail in his photo, lets all jump on the band wagon and bash him into submission.
When asked for c & c it should be put on that forum.

I tend to generally agree, but there is one thing that one must always note in a post with photos and that is what the poster says he wants. In this case the title of the thread was "Feel free to critique", so I think that is what the poster was looking for.
Cheers,
rfs

Re: Feel free to critique

As it may seem this was not directed at you. I was a little worried you might reply to this post. You are in fact only one of maybe 3 people that could comment on my work and not ruffle my feathers cause your normally on target with your evaluation. I know he asked for it. It's why I said we have forums for it. This forum has become a free-for-all with non-paying members. Let me add my .02 worth. Oh I agree with the last commeny ect. ect. If you don't have anything to add let it go!
Diaz has come a long way in a short time. I like his work, he is trying. He will get better because I can see he wants to get better.
I guess I'm just calling for a little bit more self discipline in posting to the corrcet forum. Maybe the freeloaders won't be so free to unload.

Do I detect a bit of bias regarding non-paying forum members?

Uh yeah! 7 replies to this post, 3 of them have portfolio's up. Like your reply to the guy that eluded that busy streets don't make good backgrounds, huh?
Yes they can, done right. I just hate this drive by shooting mentality. Hey waite let me kick you too because that makes me feel good.
UH, I'm an expert oh yeah! but I'm not willing to post my own work!
I'm better than you, oh yeah! I'm gonna give you my .02 worth, sometimes thats what it's really worth.
Please state the obvious. uh, uh, I'm an idiot!
