This image seems a little odd to me. I assume its supposed to be fashion, but the lower part of the dress has no shadow detail that I can detect. The long highlight area along the top of the sofa (when I first saw the photo, it looked like a large hotdog bun that the model was sitting in) is so bright that it tends to form a distraction. If a shot is about fashion, then (in my view) the dress should be the center of attention and should show the detail of the garment. Anyway, just my observations and opinions.

Its funny I've struggled with that myself for the longest time. It always seemed pretty much cut a dry if it fashion the item of clothing is the item to be the focused on. But for the last few years I've seen less and less of that. I spend probably four hours a week reading everything from Italian Vogue to Knitting Monthly and what is obviously an ad for a dress designer all I can see is a blur, I can just about tell the dress is long or short and what colour. So I started contacting the photographers that are shooting this stuff and more and more I would hear, the images is not selling the item of clothing directly but a lifestyle as a package, buy this bag from Louis Vuitton and you could be this person. Now I see a lot of advertising that doesnt even include the item they selling. It seems as if to be saying you want to own this big house and boat in the background buy Louis Vuitton. It makes me laugh but it must obviously work I guess.
