Dave, where reflectors used here, or flash units?

How do you take light meter readings for this shot? Is it only on the model, or various meter readings taken, if so, which places on the photo would you take and how do you calculate the right one to use.

I have found that my light meter says one thing, the histogram on my canon 30D says another!

I never use reflectors or fill flash outdoors. I always utilize natural reflectors and proper metering, with of course, a hand held meter, from the models face to the camera position.

It's all about utilizing the lighting properly, be it mid day or otherwise.

There is no such thing as bad light...just bad usage of light.

Again...no refellectors or fill flash used for this image, taken in the lobby of a lodge, utilizing nothing but window light, which created the lighting and the catchlights.
