I am offering to develop a web site free of charge for the first two models who e-mail me at robinbriggs@robinbriggs.com.
You must have $100.00 to pay for the first year of hosting and $10.00 to pay for a domain name registration (which will be registered in your name - not mine). You also must provide me with at least twenty high quality images to be used in the site.
I'm making this offer because I need a couple of model websites to add to my web development portfolio. All the ones I've done over the years are gone due to the models retiring or moving on to other persuits.
I'll bet he'd do one for a photographer also. It is pretty easy to do either type of site since they can usually be automated with any of a number of templates and products like BreezeBrowser or Photoshop, etc. Since he'll make about $100 off of any site he does, its a nice little business. Naturally, you could do your own. For about $30 per year you can get good quality web hosting including all the trimmings and enough space to host thousands of photos and large bandwidth. Then register the domain name at GoDaddy for $8.95 and in a few hours you can have your own website.
As an example of some of the cute items that are out there for building unique looks to a website, consider this example:
I didn't bother to put up any text, but this would be an example of the one photo on the front page along with appropriate text. If you click on any of the images in the collage it zooms to the image where you can then browse the rest. By the way, this example was done in about 2 minutes with a simple little product called FotoFusion ( http://rfredricksmith.com/link/?a=FotoFusion ).
I don't use any templates or gimmicks - every web site I develop is created entirely by hand based on the client's needs and desires. I'll make a whopping $2.05 in this case. The hosting is $99.00 per year and the domain name registration is $8.95. I rounded the numbers up for simplicity sake.
If this is the "nice little business" you say I have going, why aren't I offering it to everyone?

The point I was trying to make was that $100 per year or $99 per year is way to high for hosting. Most models start out with not much available cash. So if they can get good hosting for $30, why charge them $99? That was what I was trying to say.
By the way, I looked at your glass rose site and it is very nice. I especially liked the digital art items.
Hosting is available for a huge variation of monetary amounts - from zero dollars (free) to hundreds a month. I've been in this business long enough to know that when you find someone who is reliable, you stick with them. $99.00 per year is $8.25 a month - about two cups of coffee at Starbucks, that'll break the bank... not.
This is an offer for models, if they want to take me up on the offer that's fine, if they don't that's fine too. I don't see the need for a big drawn out discussion about web hosting prices, or crappy template web sites.
Robin your a free member on this site just like i am. We didnt pay to post pictures here . So if your site is Free why should the models pay. If you pay for somthing its not free.
You're comparing apples to oranges - this is a public site that exists with the sole intent to make money for the people who run it. I'm a free member here because I can be. I don't need to pay for space here because I'm already paying to host my own two personal websites - www.glassrose.com & www.robinbriggs.com. I have complete control over my own web sites, this web site has complete control over me, and you. We could both be deleted from here in five minutes and not even know it, or we could be garage glamour one minute and glamour one the next.
Professionals have professional web sites and professional web site development takes time and effort - that equals money. So my offer to develop a web site for someone for no charge is indeed offering something for free - a professional web site ready to be hosted with any chosen domain name.
