Retro hollywood glamour photography is my favorite style of portraiture. The girl in this photos is a student at UNT in Denton, she was real nice. The hat in the photo I picked up at a really kewl coffee shop in a small town here in TeXas called Wylie - it doubles as an antique shop and they have some really (expensive) neat stuff in there. I picked up the hat for $20. On ebay they often go for as much as $50, this one had the black veil and everything often worn in the 20's and 30's.
This photo was created using a light-on-light technique, a large softbox for fill and a 30-spot for key to create the butterfly pattern. Those were the only two lighgts, I didn't see any need for more in this case for obvious reasons (although I typically love using kickers and hair lights).
And yes there are a lot more lurkers than posters here it seems!
