Don,
You are totally wrong. I understand your innuendos and why you make such statements, but you are not only being unprofessional, you are wrong and being very sarcastic, which is very uncalled for, especially for people that have taken the time to come here and learn. That's like saying every time I open up one of your posts, it will normally be shots of your wife again and again. And a word of warning, flaming is not allowed on this site, so please watch your statements. I might add, your uncalled for statements only make you less of a photographer in my book.
Like every other place in the world, the sunset sets differently, it's affected by atmospheric conditions, so while one model, and only one model of the five here is the same from last year, it's not the same photos, nor do people stand in line as you inaccuratly claim. (While this site is not anywhere, repeat, anywhere, finished yet, here are some images to help clarify your misrepresentations about my workshops--again, this is something I'm slowly working on when I have time,
Exotic Workshop Photos "uncompleted."
Today is the day everyone arrived. Tomorrow the workshop officially starts. We pair up two photographers with every model, five models, ten photographers. While there is one infinity pool here that faces the sunset like no other place in the world--which means very few people will have these kind of shots per year, there is also beaches, rocks, palm trees, hot tub, and various locations throughout the islands, allowing photographers to shoot different images for the next four days, with different models.
Because today was "arrival day," I set up a shoot for sunset to prepare the photographers for the next four days of shooting, and because I was happy in the shots I took, I handed off the remote to a few lucky photogs of the ten here, to grab a few shots of their own for their own practice to prepare them for the next four days.
Sure, you can argue those shots will be similar, and in fact, you'll see that with the image I have below of Playboy model Luara, but it will not be that way on a daily basis. Besides, who wouldn't want to shoot a sunset in the Virgin Islands as the backdrop with the April 2006 Playboy Playmate, Holley Dorrough? You get that too while you're here.
Being that you're a veteran of workshops, one could argue, just another workshop photo someone set up for you, not one you coordinated the make-up, set styling, hair styling, clothing, etc., just another workshop photo for Don.
With my attendees, while we give them the tools, the knowledge, and the help, with the exception of those lucky few today, we show them how to do all the above, so they can say it's thiers, truthfully.
So in summary, yep, a few photos will "appear" to be similar to last year, as only ten people experienced this last yeat, and this year, another 30 will experience the same--but they will learn how to do it, will be expected to be able to do it on their own, and will do so before they leave, so if they decide to recreate the same shot again, whether it be in Cozumel, Maui or the Virgin Islands, they can do so without a problem--they will learn, and I challenge them to do so.
While we're here, we also become friends as we all live together in three separate houses, we all network, we all share our experiences, we all review and critique each others images while here, even more learning.
In the end, because the sunsets change by the minute, day, year and decade, no two sunsets will be the same, though a few will be close. Photographers here learn to overpower the sun, learn about white-balance, learn about dragging shutters, learn, etc., etc., and of course walk away feeling they've accomplished professional results they can replicate again.
I close by saying, show us your sunset images, I'll put any of my students work, all inclusive (models, hair, make-up, location, styling, etc.), up against your workshop work any day. And if you can post an image today that can achieve superior results to my students, even on their first day, I'll give you a slot (you pay to get here) for free at the
workshop we're having in August.
I wish you the best, rg sends!
