Re: Looking for an answer

You need to click on the "My Home" link up near the top of the screen, and then select "Edit Options". You'll have to fill out some of the questions such as profession and country otherwise it won't save your changes. AT the very bottom you'll see a choice of "Message Editor Interface". Choose the 2nd option from the drop down and then save. Now when you open a box to post a thread, you'll see a row of icons above the box. Use the one that looks like a Yellow square with a mountain on it to select a photo. The photo will need to be already loaded somewhere on the web. Or it can be loaded into your portfolio on G1 and then you can use the URL that appears along with the photo when you view it full size.
Cheers,
Roger

Re: Looking for an answer

Go to your G1portfolio, open the pic to full size, scroll down to UBBCODE button, copy to clipboard, make your post (Go Advanced), then paste, preview, (it should be there), then sumit.

Tried that, got a neat little box with a red X for my efforts. I presume you mean the URL in the browser address window. Maybe not...

Aha, a light flickers... buried down at the bottom of the page is a couple of boxes with URL's... can it be???

another try...

I really don't need this grief...

Re: Looking for an answer

Why is posting an image so difficult? I would think a new and improved site would have at least as easy controls as the previous site. I read RFS's response on how to post an image and I felt like I was reading an engineering text book.

Posting an image is very easy. You just click on the little yellow icon above the box where you're typing the post, and you put in the URL of the photo. Of course you have to know the URL of the photo.

Aside: That is always a problem for some people and was on the old system. There were many posts on the old system asking how to post a photo. The best way, was always the URL method, but then many people didn't know how to get a photo loaded into some webspace somewhere.

That's just the way it worked on the old site, except it wasn't a little yellow icon, but instead a text link. The only problem is when the little yellow icon is not there. When a person signs up as a free member the system defaults the editor to one that does not show the icons (at least that's the way it seems to be right now). Since they should edit their basic options, anyway, that is just one of the choices they need to make, that they want the middle editor.

When the Open link under My Pics is officially working, then they can use that also, but may not want to since usually they'll get a bigger image from posting it from offline.

Cheers,
rfs
