Okay, I just flipped over from one for the other model sites (MM ! cant think of the name right now [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] ) anyway I saw a pic of a girl in her thong, ace facing the camera with her hands on the wall of a hotel room. Lighting was bad and somewhat out of focus. I then began to read the comments on the image.
one read "WOW! such realism and raw sexuality!" another read "awesome emotion " a model even said " I love the way you captured her sexuality tastefully" etc. etc. the photographer had 10 comments all pretty much the same reasoning.
Now I know that art is subjective, but when is it just a bad image?

awhile back I went to an art show and one of the artist was showing drawings that he did and was selling them as art and for a pretty penny. I started talking to my girl friend at the time and made the mistake of making fun of the work while the artist was right behind me. His work literally looked like my 2 year old did it. it was in crayon and drawings of houses and birds stick figure people. Hell the sun was a circle with lines coming out of it. (we've all drawn it that at one time or other.) the artist after over hearing me start to cuss me and telling me that "the art was in the ability to get into a child like mind and draw that way!" I said "WOAH".
again the question. when is it art and when is it junk?

"The world may never know" Of course, it's pretty easy to fake "art"when you display it in front of a bunch of people who try a little too hard to be "open minded" and perceptive.
In my opinion, it's perfectly acceptable to say that someones art is crap. I hear that my work is a lot of things. Which usually mean it's made an impression... which means it did its job [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

art is any of your business Robert! It is what it is... and your art belongs to you, no one else - your perception of art is also within that qualification.

I grew up hearing my mother always bitch about how Picasso sucked and his work was awful... one day I told her to shut the f*ck up. I didn't tell her she didn't know what she was talking about, I just told her to stop bitching. His art wasn't bad in my view, her opinion was.

I dont understand what you mean by art isnt any of my business? and IMO art isnt your own after you have put it out for some one else to view or critique. and Next time you go out to eat, ask for a fork and see what they bring ya!

generally, porn suffers from Rodney Dangerfield Syndrome. moreso since, whatever respect it does garner, ends up in a kleenex and tossed in the toilet.

I understand all of your views but we all see things in a different way, whether it's right or wrong. If I see porn in an artistic way that's what I see it as. That doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. So whether it is junk art or porn it's the value that the viewer places on it. The artist puts it out there for us to see it and critique it for what it is.

Im jealous of this shot of liz. first Its an awesome shot and second she's freakin awesome and I have yet to work with her.
