Not a model.... - Glamour 1™ Putting the Glamour Back in Photography!

Just a friend [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I have asked Judy several times in the past if she would let me photograph her. She would always just blush and say "no I don't think I photograph very well". Then she called last week and said "hey, I have an idea, I would like some pictures of me on the beach in my favorite Black dress". While I can't really explain her change of heart. Needless to say, I was more than happy to help her out [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I think she looks pretty good for someone who doesn't photograph very well!

I am finding I really like shooting outdoors [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] Any comments or suggestions on how to improve will be greatly appreciated!

All I can do is outside. I can't understand beautiful women thats says I don't photograph well when they are usually the best or can be. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

well, I must say her look is absolutely wonderful!

your photos, especially the first noe I adore. of course , you put her in a blue light, then im in love... because i love dark haired women in blue!

GREAT work, and great model who thinks she doesnt photograph well...

very pretty girl. too bad her change of heart dictated her favorite black dress for a beach shot. its hard to capture detail or highlights out of it exposing her against the bright background of the beach and ocean... and her dark hair holds the same challenge. especially when she's posed more into the sun rather (than like in number 2) where the sun's behind her. #2 would have benefited immensely from a gold reflector bouncing some warm sunlight into her face and upper body.

Yours is beautiful -- as or even more than most of the other net models I've seen.

Thanks for the feedback Jimmy! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] I know what you mean about detail in the black dress and hair. I was aware that it might be a problem so I tried to pay attention to how the sun was hitting her (more evident in #2). She and I both thought the first image captured more of her natural personality and the look she wanted. I used a gold reflector on both images. However, I was worried that I would make her skin tone too Orange and then not get what I want in post. I guess I was a little too reflector conservative [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

I'm still not completely happy with what I'm getting in terms of skin tone when shooting outdoors. Not sure if it's me (not reading the light properly) or it's time to upgrade camera and glass [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

The challange for me was to provide images that she,(someone who doesn't like to be photographed) likes. She does indeed like them and that was a boost to my confidence! She is very pretty and does well in front of the camera. I never read the other responses, so I hope I'm not duplicating.. First thing I'm drawn to in an image is the eyes. In both the shots here, her face is losing the battle from the sun. The background is perfectly exposed, but a reflector or some more light (fill flash perhaps) would have brought up the details in her face which is the first thing my eyes wanted to see when I viewed your image.

I love the area you shot that in.. Where is it ?
