This is part of what I really like about Garage Glamour.

Two outstanding photographers from completely diverse sub sets of our American culture in a opinionated discussion of their feelings about tattoo's in glamour photography and in general every day life as well.

Would I like to see tattoo's on a model? No, but if there's one there I have to deal with it in the best way possible to please the client. Being tattooed isn't for me, not that I haven't thought about it and I enjoy the sight of a tattoo that's been well crafted. So that puts me into another sub set.

I think that Joshua's original images have captured the beauty of both women with different styles of tattoos that compliments the sub set of the American culture that they're in.

I like the fact that both of you belong to the same sub set that I do; in that none of us like the tattoos that have no thought or purpose. "body grafatti" I belive was the term used, although I might have taken it out of context.

One sub set that we all belong to here at Garage Glamour is the one that includes civility and respect for diverse opinions no matter how meatheaded you think the other guy is. It's a good sub set to belong to.

Rick, I appreciate your comments and the thought behind them. I'm not sure if my comments exclude me from the "One sub set that ...includes civility and respect for diverse opinions no matter how meatheaded you think the other guy is. It's a good sub set to belong to." I would like to think that I am included in that sub set and I strive to be tolerant and treat people with respect. However, when others are judgemental and make blanket statments about people they don't know and clearly don't understand, I feel that I have the same right to speak my mind. If that is seen as not being civil or respectful...my sincere apologies. But, is it more offensive to judge people or call someone on that type of behavior? I'm not looking argue or to change anyone's mind here about tattoos, art or glamour, only to suggest that EVERYONE keep respect in mind and go easy with the judgements. This is the place I go to learn and enjoy other's work not be taught what is and isn't acceptable in society OR in photography.

Hey Don:

You should post more dude, you've got some nice work. Around her at GG even if you don't ask for an opinion you're more than likely to get one anyway. It's how we get to know one another. We've just met and if I only had one dollar to bet, I'd bet it on the fact that you're passionate about tattoos.

You and Carlos were on the same page on many levels but from opposite ends of the spectrum.
[ QUOTE ]
I believe only leads the impressionalable, and the social naive to think this will enhance their acceptability.

[ QUOTE ]
I didn't walk in and see something on the wall and say, oh man that will make me so cool or having a tattoo will make people like me.

It's sad but true that this sub set also exists but that would be a topic for the "Off Topic Forum" which can get pretty lively from time to time.

Well I'm glad I met you and hope to see more of your work.

I think to each their own. I myself wouldn't mind one small one somewhere easily hid, but I'm way to chicken to ever do it.

This girl had quite a few. She regrets getting all of them now. Here is an example of what I did with one of her images. I think she'll like it.

Original-Straight from camera except for resize.

Edited version-will probably look a little heavy on the skin from the resize.

The edit looks good, good work!

That's sad tha someone gets ink that they later do not want. I have had those feelings, but I don't make much of a deal with it. I will probably go with it and get more to fill up my right arm at some point. Why have 2 tattoos on your arm when you can simply fill the whole thing up and make it apart of yourself? I used them as life markers personally.

Thanks!

Her face looks really freaky on my monitor for some reason.

Hers are kind of the same thing...she grew up in Texas, so Texas is on her behind. She was in the arm so that explains the flag and "army pride" on her arm. One you don't see here her sister gave her for her birthday, ect...
