oh you can fix that....easily edited

This post is for the models that think photo-shoping their errors, tattoo's or what ever is easy. It eats up time.
You must know post production takes time. I don't mind it too much as a small favor. I t becomes a problem when its a lot and I'm trying to meet a deadline.
Come to your shoots ready, and if the tatoo's need to go cover them with make up. Better yet don't get a tat if your going to model.

note the incomplete hose in the second image...this could easily be prevented.

Re: oh you can fix that....easily edited

Wouldn't it be easier to hire a model without tattoos if that's what you are looking for ?

Re: oh you can fix that....easily edited

Oh yes, it would! And I do. I'm just saying these gals need to think if they want Jobs. Pretty tat or work. Just brows through some of these girls ports in here and see how many that says they can easily remove their body armor or the tats can be covered....There is a lot.

Re: oh you can fix that....easily edited

Unless of course, you only model for fun, and to help out student/new photographers, and so you can be a part of an awesome image- not an ad campaign. You'd be hard-pressed to find either of my tattoos in my NUDES, let alone my clothed images.

Okay, thats my special case. I agree that if fashion modeling is your carrer choice- be a blank canvas. Take care of your skin so you dont have acne/poxmarks or anything hardcore that needs to be edited- NO tattoos or holes, dont dye or cut your hair and dont pluck/wax your eyebrows yourself. You will have other people to do it for you because you will be their property. Or you will be fired

I see what transformations can be made with time and effort... But honestly- its worth more to go to the gym three days a week than to have someone tweak your waist to look smaller. Its better to wash your face, moisturize, and sunblock instead of having someone digitally edit your skintone. *sigh* I guess thats my rant.

Re: oh you can fix that....easily edited

IMHO...its just as much..if not more the photogs responsibility to make sure the model is prepared. If she isn't...dont shoot her. Thats what I would ...and have done. I have sent a model or two home because of that very "oh you can fix it in post" attitude. As far as rings, watches, blah blah..I dont shoot with them. Take some responsibility and dont blame it ALL on the model. In my early days of shooting (not that I have been shooting forever) I ran across very much of the same thing. As the master Ken Marcus once said "perfect planning makes perfect pictures". Just my .02. Images are "created" not taken. Again Ken Marcus once said "anyone can take a picture", not everyone "can make a picture". Just my .02

Ciao,
Michael

Re: oh you can fix that....easily edited

If you look at the post "i wanna see ink" you will see lots of lovely ladies with tattoos who seem to be doing alright with their body art and their jobs. They are not mutually exclusive in all lines of work.

You just need to pick the right model for each job. There is room for all of us.

Re: oh you can fix that....easily edited

In my own personal opinion, if a young lady is truly beautiful, adding body art, body jewelry is a distraction from the girls beauty. I'll still shoot them, but I think ist a distraction.
Now I recently had a paid shoot for a local Church. The model I was going to use had two small Tattoo's One wouldn't show, the other I could have covered, shot from an angle so it wouldn't be seen. The pastor flatly rejected my girl. I have only one other girl I could use that would fit and she didn't feel comfortable shooting for a church not her own. So the girl I did shoot from the chruch, after the shoot dropped her pants and showed her tattoo. It was in a place I probably wouldn't have photographed even if she posed nude for me.
Findind a tattooless girl these days is as refreshing as findind a large breasted woman that is all natural.
