Other than going to the other place, where do I find MUA in my area? I looked at MM and only found one in my area. I desperately need someone to teach me how to pluck my eyebrows.

Try the local college drama departments.

Try the larger department stores.

You can always place an ad in the paper, or try wading through all the crap on craigslist...

Try your local Salons. Even though most will only have prom and bridal experience. Licensed cosmetologist have had some formal training in make up application. Glamour make up should be an applied experience for most of them. You would also be surprised that you will find many wanting to experiment beyond the typical bridal and high school prom make up.

This could be a simple means of you finding a make up artist in your area that you might be able to build up a nice working relationship with.

Also, make up counters at the mall. They are sick of applying make up to grandma's and may want to venture out and do some creative things.

Handy hint:

other posters have it right, salons and mall makeup counters, but be prepared to try a few before finding someone who really fits your style and budget. A really good MUA can absolutely help make or break a shoot from the vibe on set to the finished product.

Bonus Handy hint: try salons first because even though all MUA's will tell you they do hair, you want to find one that actually can.

Triple bonus handy hint: The good ones want to get paid. A lot of models will find an extra hundred/hundred and fifty bucks for a couple of hours with real hair and makeup even when the shoot is TFP with you. If you're building a book and your site a good MUA is in-freaking-dispensable.

I found mine by going to the local beauty college. The teacher there passed my name and # to a former student who called me up. I've worked with her a couple of times and am set to work with her again 3 times this month.
