Wrong, it appears that if you post an image you are trying to upstage or grandstand.

Reminds me how we make issues up to have issues because we can't function without disfunctional issues and even that can lead to having issues that are dysfunctional ....

I've never really understoond why anyone would post one of their images along with a critique. Unless that photo were illustrating something in your critique. Personally I'm not too keen on posting one of my pics along with a critique.

if the critiquer doesnt post anything, you dont have a way to value the critique.

If the person posting knows his/her stuff, that makes the critique all the more valuable. If the stuff is crap, then the critique has less (but not none) merit.

if you get a critique from Robert Sanders or Christian or Chung etc, their stuff speaks for itself and so does the advice from them.

If JohnQ GWC writes what he thinks, it may or may not be valid, and the quality of his/her image is a clue to the validity of their comments.

Basically its really simple, you're providing them an image so that the person you are critiquing has a basis to go off of whether or not the person critiquing is qualified to critique the image. in other words I wouldnt critique someone elses image unless I was certain I could back up what im talking about with my own image. Its like my biggest pet peeve, people that come on forums and critique that dont even have a single image on a portfolio or a personal website. I wouldnt want some guy that takes upskirt photos with his camera phone. telling me how to improve my work. in a nut shell.
it just gives more weight to what a person is saying.
