I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, about why I am getting back into this, not photography in general, but this subject in particular.
But before I add too much subjectivity to it, I'd be interested in hearing anyone else's thoughts on this picture, taken in 1999, near Cabo San Lucas. The model is Wendy Callahan.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. Are you asking for our opinion of the model, and whether you should work with her again?
If that is the question, I don't feel any of us are qualified to offer an opinion based on a photo from 1999.
There's better here than me to critique, but I like the simplicity of it. If your asking if it's a motivational picture for yourself to do more. Only you can answer that.
The shot is fine, far too small to evaluate the technical details, but the overall impression is acceptable. The problem is its age. Go re-shoot it now, or something else, but right now. If you enjoy the experience, then nuf said. You are a completely different person then you were 6 years ago. Hopefully your photography skills have grown with you, if not, do something about it. If you don't love it, you will hate it, go figure.
From what I can tell, I really like the image (it is a little small to tell about the technical quality). Like you, I wonder why I stay interested in this kind of photography... I guess Iām just masochistic.
i think its a great image. the models position and placement in the photo as well as the stairs and the pot - they all seem to be set perfectly. i love the different light values as well - very nice!
For those who noted the small size of the image, this is all I'm allowed with the free portfolio, but the following link will let you see a larger copy:
