my small critique...

Steven,

I like your background in your first image, but the cropping off of the arm where the hand is missing kills that image for me. Also her right had is brighter than her face, that bugs me too.

I was listening to pro photographer the other day, Peter Geller who has shot over 10,000 Harliquen Romance book covers and even won the World Press Photo acclaim in 1971, and he made the comment, the light strikes the face first from up above and that's one reason the face should be at least equal or lighter than the rest of the body. Thought that was a great comment from the inventor of the California Sunbounce himself.

With that said, plus my own photo editorial background and skills, the dark face bothers me in both images, some fill is needed. In image two, her breasts are lighter than her face.

Overall, I love the concept, love that background, a great model with a great face, but personally I'd go back and shoot with that background again and again as there are great possibilities there. Just adding a touch of fill to the model's face will make a great difference. The choice of long lenses are great too and I'd stick with that choice.

Thanks for sharing and for being a part of the GG family and community..rg sends!

Re: Two more Ouside Shots

The model is very attractive.

Your color balance is way off into the blue side. The skin tones are so blueish that the model looks sickly.

The pose on the first shot is not very flattering, and the crops are a bit sloppy.

The make-up is also a bit overdone. I would suggest getting a makeup artist (MUA) for the next photo shoot. Many photographers will not even consider doing a photo shoot without a MUA.

I would also bump up the aperture up a bit on both of them (f3 or f4) because they are both a bit soft. Looks like they both were focused on the nearest thing (her breasts) and her face is slightly out of focus on both of them.

Just have fun and keep on shooting!

Re: Two more Ouside Shots

Looks like she has to tone down the make up a bit because of the detail that your camera is capable of capturing.

...actually, the makeup on that third shot looks much more appropriate.

Re: my small critique...

Thanks for the imput Rolando, I REALLY appreciate it. The problem with the first shot was that the benches were dirty/wet so she was squating with her feet on the bench. I did not like that so I cropped out the feet, which also cut off her arm, I think this may work a bit better:

I see what you mean about the dark on the face and can try to use a Reflector next time. The entire area is covered with those large business hi-rises with the Green Glass for windows. This makes for some big problems with proper skin exposure, especially with a model who is part Vietnamese and part German, her lilly-white German skin collected a yellow-green cast that I was unable to fully get rid of in PS. I did shoot a 6000k.

If I do go back it will be with a darker skinned Model or at least one with a tan...
