Did you find out why your wife objected, i.e. discuss her objection? Not that it matters, but it might.

For now no I haven't. It may be an interesting discussion for some day in the future but if I had it right now she'd think I'm trying to talk her into it and that wouldn't be my purpose so the converstation will wait. Good idea though rather than letting it drop. It'll probably strengthen our relationship more.

This post has taught me a LOT. Most important thing I've learned....there are a lot of really cool photographers on this site who first and most importantly RESPECT their wife and her opinions and values, even if they don't get their own way. And they put their wife above all else. That's pretty cool in my book guys!

Kelly,

I agree with you. I was actually pleasantly supprised when I had so many people tell me to honor my wife's wishes. I actually thought that the guys that replied and said, "hey, my wife's cool with what I'm doing so I've got no problems", was cool too and I'm glad it works that way for them. My wife however wouldn't be cool with me shooting for say Playboy. She might be ok with me shooting a playboy style shoot for some lady to share with her husband but not to sell.

My wife and children are the most important thing to me. Not doing this shoot is nothing vs keeping my wife happy.

i started shooting bondage a few years ago because it was requested. i always say i'll shoot anything and almost have... during my 2003 foto adventure by greyhound, i was surprised by the amount of people who seemed at first appearances normal, but later revealed they were into bondage. then at a after-shoot meeting in NYC i met a model who does bondage and when i mentioned that bondage was almost like porn, boy, i didn't know women could get louder than screaming babies!!!

bondage is ropes, handcuffs, etc tied. BDSM is needles, blood, pain (a lot of it too) and other stuff. bondage is NOT porn, but it may be explicit because of its nature & theme of course. it is really beautyful sometimes, as i have discovered, especially when you get someone who ties those ropes into such detailed ropework that you want to cry when you think of how long it took, how long the model had to endure the wait and then posing tied up for the camera, THEN quickly getting untied and allowing that blood to start flowing again.

bondage is a bad word for those who do NOT know what it is... and it usually, in their little closed minds, as mine once was; includes sex, penetration and lots of blood. that is NOT true. that is usually bdsm but even those ppl into that lifestyle of pain etc will argue with me about that.

take for example stevenD's displayed fotos... the first one with the latex and chains; is that bondage?? no it isn't. technically it's fetish but one who might not know will say (whatever)...

fotos and its themes is just as relative as music; wot one doesn't like another will love. but no reason nor excuse to judge one or a style upon misbeliefs that are usually wrong.

FYI: i am personally not into bondage but i do it because the rope texture against soft skin is very beautiful. i hate putting ropes onto a body and my ties and knots are disgusting, but i'm learning bit by bit.... sorry, i dont display my (very few) bondage pixs; they are created for exhibitions only.

jes my two euros...
