Management has culled the rolls, and I do not blame them. You need to see who is serious and who has faded away. Another website that many of us have visited has never culled the rolls as best I can tell.
So I have been watching and comparing the ever evolving GG and wondering who has passed un-noticed.
I remember earlier this year when we were all challenged to explore new models, new concepts, kick-it-up and be something new and we all sorta fizzled. Myself included. That artist has disappeared best I can tell, perhaps his frustration with the rest of us got the best of him. I see more regurgitation, more let me talk about whatever but I cannot post a new image stuff. Or hey I'll post an image I did not like before but since I got nothing new let me use this one. Hey, I've not been posting that much and it is because, if I don't have something 'potentially helpful' to share. I just don't want to smack my jaws because I have fingers that can put words on the screen. ALERT THE GG POLICE! Mike may be off to another rant.
Here's my thought, I'll post if it is worth it in my feeble mind but regurgitation is just that PUKEING. Posting on here because you have some ever agitating need is not helping anyone but maybe you. I have sessions coming up where I am trying to step out of my norm. If they work, I'll share them, if they do not I won't but that's me the ever aging old fool. But hold me accountable, if I puke on you with old stuff hold me accountable and I'll try and do the same.
I'm still trying to find a norm to step out of! I have been regurgitating recently. Moving to a new town 600 miles away with a pregnant wife tends to quell the glamour shooting spirit. I'm tryin to get some things going here, but it's slow and I doubt being a father will generate tons of spare time. I've shot some fun non-glamour stuff. Ok, so, sorry, no more barfing.
can't agree, dude. i shoot often enough and post new stuff often enough but i still sometimes peruse stuff i shot a week ago or a month ago or three months ago and i sometimes find one or two in there that didn't originally catch my eye but now does. i don't think that's puking up a shot. plus, it's my freakin' bandwidth being used when i post. if i wanna spend it (the bandwidth), i'm the one paying for it. besides, if i post puke, well, it's like TV-- yu don't like it, you think it looks like i regurgitated yesterday's lunch, flip the freakin' channel and look at someone's else's mess.
Does this mean I'm the GG Bulimic? Im not sure I understand this thread...are you saying if its not good dont post it? If so...had I known that in the beginning.....I would have never learned whats good or bad....
JMO.
Mike, not sure it matters, but I'm not sure I agree. Art is like evolution. Ontogony recapitulating phylogony. I probably don't have enough time left to get to your level because my photography career started about four years ago when I retired from my real job. I just did a shoot with one of our models out here in CA. I got some really nice stuff, from my perspective. It's growth for me, but you might put it in the puke category. I come here faithfully each day. I try to learn. I see the master's work. You, David Moyle, JimmyD, and many others. What is a minor gltch to you in a photo is a learning experience for me. Maybe we need a sandbox forum for the newbies, and keep this one for the big guns. I'm okay in the sandbox, as long as I don't get any in my lense.
I was pointing the finger mostly at myself, Since the wife has moved there's no one to talk to so someone has to shake a finger at me, and I guess I just decided to shake my finger at myself. If you don't feel you are doing the same thing over and over then you aren't.
Good point Jon. The interesting thing is I have posted many in the past that bugged me and no one said a word, not one comment. That could mean a lot of things or nothing. I will make a point in the next few weeks of posting one that bothers me and I will tell ya why. By the way the shirt doesn't bother me that much.
