Ok, so I was going through some of my older images and I thought I saw some opportunities to turn around some ok, but not awesome pictures. I blame myself entirely for the quality of the pics, the model did an excellent job. I know PS will never make an ok pic great, but I was hoping for something ok-er or kinda good. Basically I was initially going for a high key shot. What I did to the image was pretty simple. Dupe the background layer and diffuse glow with 0 granularity. Slide the opacity to 60-80%. Go back to the background layer and use the quick mask and paint brush to select the eyes, brows, nostrils, hair, clothing, and body outline. Copy and paste is to a new layer, slide the new layer to the top, drop its opacity to 25-40% and set the layer to luminosity mode. I'm torn on the results. Sometimes I like it, sometimes its too much. In audio production they tell you in the final mix to back off your effects 10-15% because you get used to hearing them and keep turning them up. Should I have turned the PS down or does it work? Feel free to have at it yourselves!
