This is an "outtake" from a series I'm working on. Stress here, an outtake, not a finished image. But I thought it was funny and wanted to post it. Yep, we shot it in Portland while I was there this past weekend for a workshop.

Male model, the stud himself, internationally published photographer Gordon Jones, his work from the Virgin Islands workshop is featured in my book and recently in a UK photo magazine. Model is Joelle from the West Coast.

We used 10 Hensel Monolights, which included three of them on beauty dishes, two with 10-degree grids in the dishes. One dish for fill, one for model's face, one for male model's face. We had five lights to accent the models and two lights to simulate fire under the grill--notice how there is Cinefoil covering the lights behind the grill. All the lights besides the first three beauty dishes used 7-inch reflectors with 20-degree grids. Some had 1/2 CTO's, the fire had a red gel on one and a 3/4 CTO on the other. The fill beauty dish had a 1/8th CTO.

White-balance at 6,000K for this shot. Camera Olympus E-Volt, E-500 at 1/160 sync-speed and F/8. Camera goes for about $700. Lens 100mm effective.

Dry-ice was used on the grill to simulate a cooking area, again, this is an outtake so you see less here.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks, rg sends!
